When people talk about Christian faith-based K-12 school curriculum, there are a couple of names that come up time and time again – Bob Jones University and Abeka.

Bob Jones University (BJU) and Abeka are well respected publishers of faith-based curriculum, and Grapeville Christian School, a K-12 school in Greene County, New York, two hours north of New York City on the north end of the Catskill Mountains, uses both.  Abeka at the elementary level and Bob Jones University at the high school level. Students from the small Christian school are every bit as eager and ready to enter college – and many do – following their senior year at Grapeville Christian School.

Both BJU and Abeka curriculum integrate biblical stories, lessons, and morals into every subject. Even math, which is not an easy feat. They both also publish curriculum in the following subjects:

Both the English Language Arts and Mathematics standards contain an increased emphasis on deeper understanding of underlying concepts rather than on mere memorization of facts. They also emphasize critical thinking.  

School and Church

Grapeville Christian School can accommodate 84 students in grades K-12. It sits at the far end of the village of Grapeville at the edge of what is known as the east branch of the Potic Creek. It is not only part of the two hundred-year-old Grapeville Christian Church, it is adjacent to the church and the two are closely tied together. The school is a ministry of the church.

Grapeville’s students come from the following surrounding school districts: Greenville CSD, Cairo-Durham CSD, Catskill CSD, Coxsackie-Athens CSD, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk CSD, and Berne-Knox- Westerlo CSD.   

Parents who want the faith-based experience for their children can relax as Grapeville's teachers provide both a rigorous curriculum and a character education experience based on the Christian faith. 

Bob Jones University Curriculum

BJU Press Curriculum's in-depth Biblical orientation and detailed structure comes with the traditional Bob Jones textbook series. The textbook curriculum is designed to be more traditional, with standard worksheet-based lessons and instruction for the parents. Bob Jones University is a private, non-denominational Protestant university in Greenville, South Carolina, U.S. Since 2005 BJU has been accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools.
